Project Himalayan Impact Watch is an independent citizen initiative led by Major General Atul Kaushik, SM, VSM, created to support the protection of the fragile Himalayan ecosystem, forests, rivers, sacred landscapes, and mountain communities.
The Himalayas are one of India’s most important natural and cultural landscapes. They are home to rich biodiversity, ancient forests, rivers, traditional communities, and sacred natural sites. At the same time, this region is facing growing environmental pressure due to unsustainable lifestyles, careless development, waste, forest degradation, and loss of ecological sensitivity.
Through Project Himalayan Impact Watch, we invite youth, researchers, trekkers, educators, environmentalists, photographers, journalists, and concerned citizens to become part of a growing national network committed to ecological awareness and responsible action.
This initiative aims to bring together people who care about the Himalayas and wish to contribute through observation, documentation, awareness, communication, and community outreach. Citizen participation can play an important role in identifying environmental concerns, promoting responsible behaviour, and strengthening collective responsibility towards nature.
At PSPK, we believe that nature is not an unlimited resource for exploitation, but a living, interconnected system of which we are a part. The Himalayas require care, respect, and long term responsibility. Project Himalayan Impact Watch reflects this understanding by encouraging citizens to become active participants in protecting forests, rivers, biodiversity, sacred landscapes, and mountain communities.
